After completing his orthopaedic training in Adelaide, Dr Stavrou undertook further training in foot and ankle as well as sports surgery in Toronto, Canada and then Brisbane.
Dr Stavrou is a specialist disorders involving the knee, foot and ankle with a special interest in Minimally Invasive “Keyhole” bunion surgery, CARTIVA® Synthetic Cartilage Implant for Big Toe Arthritis, Patient-Specific Ankle and Knee Replacement surgery. Dr Stavrou highly experienced in managing arthritis and sports injuries of the knee, foot and ankle having done so exclusively since 2003.
After completing his orthopaedic training in Adelaide, Dr Stavrou undertook further training in Foot and Ankle as well as sports surgery in Toronto, Canada and Brisbane. He is actively involved in research and has presented at local, national and international meetings.
Dr Stavrou is involved in teaching of medical students as well as future orthopaedic surgeons, he supervises a fellowship providing further subspecialty training for international orthopaedic surgeons.
In 2006, Dr Stavrou was awarded the travelling fellowship by the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS), enabling him to visit centres of excellence in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver.
Dr Stavrou consults at 215 Hutt Street, Adelaide, operating at St Andrews Hospital, he also consults and operates in Mt Barker and Darwin. He undertakes public work at the Flinders Medical Centre and Royal Darwin Hospital.
